Become a Member

How To Apply

Associates and Candidates

  1. Fill out the online application.
  2. Submit your advisement report (if you are an UNDERGRADUATE student) or your unofficial transcript (if you are a GRADUATE student) to internalaudit@uhbap.org.
  3. Pay dues.
  4. Attend orientation.

Advisement Report/Unofficial Transcript:

  1. Go to your AccessUH account.
  2. Click on Student Center.
  3. Click on My Academics.
  4. Click on View My Advisement Report or View My Unofficial Transcript.
  5. Click on View as PDF (advisement report) or Submit (unofficial transcript).

Returning Members

  1. Fill out the online application.
  2. Submit your advisement report (if you are an UNDERGRADUATE student) or your unofficial transcript (if you are a GRADUATE student) to internalaudit@uhbap.org.
  3. Pay dues.

The deadline to complete ALL of the steps mentioned above, depending on your BAP classification, is by Monday, February 5th 2024 at 11:59 PM for you to join BAP this semester.

Membership Requirements

Associates

Students must:

  • be enrolled in the University of Houston-Main Campus.
  • attend at least one orientation session.
  • have a current minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA.
  • have not taken and are not enrolled in any 3000-level major course in Accounting, Finance, or MIS.

Associates are able to get a head start on their career by getting access to the exclusive networking and professional development opportunities offered by Beta Alpha Psi. However, they are not eligible to become a member at the end of the semester. Associates who meet the point requirements to become Member are allowed to attend the end-of-semester banquet and qualify for scholarships/rewards.

Candidates

Students must:

  • be enrolled in the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston-Main Campus.
  • attend at least one orientation session.
  • have a current minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA.
  • have a current minimum 3.0 major or intended major GPA in Accounting, Finance, or MIS courses (BCIS 1305 and FINA 3332 do not count toward your major GPA).
  • have completed or are currently enrolled in at least one 3000-level major course in Accounting, Finance, or MIS beyond the business core (not including BCIS 1305 and FINA 3332).
Members

In order to become a Member, students must be enrolled in Beta Alpha Psi as a Candidate and meet the following point requirements before the end of the semester. Students who successfully meet the criteria will be inducted as a member at the banquet.

New Members must earn: 

  • 10 Points from orientation
  • 20 Points from Ignite! Career Mixer
  • 20 Points from Track Night
  • 20 Points from Recruiting Prep
  • 20 Points from Interview Prep
  • 130 Points from Professional Meetings
  • 60 Points from Community Service
  • 40 Points from Fundraising
  • 60 Points from Social Activities
  • 20 Points from Membership Development
  • 20 Points from Raffle Tickets
  • 20 Points from Election Night

*Returning Members must earn:

  • 20 Points from Ignite! Career Mixer
  • 90 Points from Professional Meetings
  • 20 Points from Community Service
  • 30 Points from Fundraising
  • 40 Points from Social Activities
  • 20 Points from Membership Development
  • 20 Points from Election Night

*Must retain a 3.3 cumulative GPA and 3.0 major GPA

Failure to meet the Active Member requirements will result in an inactive status in Beta Alpha Psi. Students will not be allowed to run for an officer position and will not be eligible for end-of-semester

rewards.

Graduate/CAP Students

For graduate and CAP students, membership qualifications hinge upon where they completed their undergraduate degree. All graduate and CAP students can only be Candidates. There is no associate status.

 

If the students have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or MIS from UH-Main Campus, they must:

  • attend at least one orientation session.
  • have a minimum 3.3 cumulative undergraduate GPA.
  • have a minimum 3.0 major undergraduate GPA.
  • be enrolled in a 5000-level or 7000-level Accounting, Finance, or MIS course.
  • send their UH unofficial transcript as a substitute for their Advisement Report.

If the students have a bachelor’s degree in another major (not Accounting, Finance, or MIS) from UH-Main Campus, they must:

  • attend at least one orientation session.
  • have completed at least one semester of Accounting, Finance, or MIS graduate courses.
  • have a minimum 3.3 cumulative graduate GPA.
  • send their UH unofficial transcript as a substitute for their Advisement report

If the students have a bachelor’s degree in any major from another university, they must:

  • attend at least one orientation session.
  • have completed at least one semester of Accounting, Finance, or MIS graduate courses.
  • have a minimum 3.3 cumulative graduate GPA.
  • send their UH unofficial transcript as a substitute for their Advisement Report.
Officers

To be eligible to run for an officer position, students must have attained the appropriate amount of points to make Member as a Candidate OR have met the appropriate amount of points as a Member to maintain active status.

 

To run for President of Beta Alpha Psi, students must first spend a semester in 1 of the 13 other officer positions.
